Coming up with the recipe for One Pan Jasmine and Wild Rice
More simple…I was in Trader Joe’s and saw there was wild rice. I knew I had Jasmine rice at home. With Shabbat starting earlier I knew I didn’t have tons of time to prepare, I needed a rice side dish for Shabbat that wouldn’t take a lot of time to make. Having it it bake in the oven with other Shabbat foods would be ideal.Taking a method of making rice that I use a lot, I put all the ingredients into a casserole dish, covered it with foil and called it a day.It worked. Really really well.

One Pan Jasmine and Wild Rice. One pan covered with foil and call it a day.
A few simple tips for making One Pan Jasmine and Wild Rice
I don’t have a lot of tips for this recipe because it’s so straightforward. However, there are a couple that will make your life easier.
Rinse the wild rice
Wild rice cooks better when it’s been rinsed. I use my OXO Rice and Grains Washing Collander (YES! OXO is now an affiliate… but I’ve loved OXO products for a long time) which is a real must-have in any kitchen. It allows you to rinse any grain without losing any grains in the sink. The holes are super small, smaller than quinoa, and there are holes on the bottom and side of the collander making it easy to rinse the rice. While some people recommend rinsing jasmine rice too, I didn’t and it turned out fine.
I use garlic oil but you can use fresh garlic
You’ll notice that I rarely use fresh garlic because it simply doesn’t agree with me. That being said, you can always substitute a mince clove of fresh garlic and tablespoon of extra virgin olive oil for every tablespoon of garlic oil in the recipe.
I used dried green onions but you can use fresh
I keep a canister of dried green onions in my pantry. Some I dry myself and some I purchase in large bags on Amazon. If you choose to you can use fresh green onions instead. One tablespoon of dried = 1/4 cup fresh.

All the ingredients in just one pan for Jasmine and Wild Rice.
Here’s the recipe for One Pan Jasmine and Wild Rice
This rice is simple but flavorful and incredibly aromatic. If you don’t have jasmine rice, feel free to use another fragrant rice like basmati.

One Pan Jasmine and Wild Rice makes a great base for your favorite Asian stir fry too!

After one hour, there is still a LOT of water.
I apologize… I put the amount of water for doubling the recipe as that’s how I made it here. You are right that it didn’t turn out right. I adjusted the amount of water in the recipe thanks to your catching the error. Again, I apologize. Please try the recipe again with the adjustment. Thanks! Sharon
