I Found The Best One-Pint Ice Cream Makers so you don’t have to. I churned through dozens of pints, froze a truckload of ice cream maker bases, and purchased the best of the best to make sure you have the absolute top one-pint ice cream maker on the market. You’re welcome!
I Found The Best One-Pint Ice Cream Makers
I churned through dozens of pints so you don’t have to. If you’ve ever wanted to skip the store-bought aisle and dive straight into custom, one-of-a-kind flavors without the trial-and-error of clunky machines, this is for you. I’ve tested the best one-pint ice cream makers on the market to find out which ones actually deliver that perfect, spontaneous scoop and which ones are just counter clutter. Here’s my review of The Best One-Pint Ice Cream Makers on the market.

These One-Pint Ice Cream Makers are so easy to use, even a six year old can manage it@
Why I stared testing One-Pint Ice Cream Makers
It all started when woot.com had an offer on the Tasty One-Pint Ice Cream Makers. Woot.com is a website that basically has Amazon.com clearance items at ridiculous prices. I bought my first Tasty One-Pint Ice cream maker for only $9.99 and then purchased them for gifts (and another one for myself) for only $8.99. They’re regularly more. I loved it. Then I saw advertisements for the Cuisinart and Dash models and wondered how they compared to the Tasty brand and the rest is history.

Testing the One-Pint Ice Cream Makers
I love one-pint ice cream makers. Here’s why:
- You can make just enough for dessert for a single meal (or two) without a lot left over.
- Experimenting with different flavors doesn’t take a lot of effort or ingredients.
- Prepping for a recipe is crazy simple using the different base recipes. I put all the ingredients in a single one pint container (I LOVE the Sophico Ice Cream Pint Containers with Silicone Lids), and put it in the refrigerator for when I’m ready to churn the ice cream. I also store at least one base in the freezer for when I’m ready to churn. I can store multiple bases and prepped containers of base for when I want to serve the ice cream.
- I’m really happy to be able to serve multiple flavors for dessert.
- Topping a simple dessert like brownies with ice cream elevates a basic dessert to a dessert that looks like you tried 😉
- Storing one-pint ice cream containers takes up very little space in the fridge and freezer.

SOPHICO Ice Cream Pint Containers with Silicone Lids are the best for storing the prepped ingredients for your ice cream. After you pour the prepped solution into your ice cream maker, you can store the finished pint of ice cream back in the same container. Excel
It took a little time to perfect the process of using the One-Pint Ice Cream Makers. Here’s what I did.
The Models that Were Tested for this Review
The pricing for these models runs between $10 and $80 depending on where/when you purchase them. I recommend having more than one on hand.
-
- The Tasty Mini Cream Maker – similar one-pint ice cream makers under different brand labels:
- The Cuisinart One-Pint Wonder Ice Cream Machine
- The Dash My Pint Ice Cream Maker
- I purchased a Briobite Soft Serve Ice Cream Maker from Walmart.com, but it arrived after the testing, so I’ll publish a later review on that one, however I’d assume the result would be similar to the Tasty or Cuisinart models.
I used my Basic One-Pint Ice Cream Recipe
I published the recipe for Homemade Peppermint Iced Cream as the start to my testing of the ice cream makers. The base for any “vanilla” ice cream is consistent, so I used that as the base in testing all the ice cream makers. Additionally, Tasty published a recipe for Chocolate Ice Cream that I tested in all the ice cream makers (except the Dash model) and it performed consistently in all the makers as well. I’ll post the recipes below.

Homemade Peppermint Ice Cream is perfect for the Holiday Season or any day!
And The Results Are In!
Everyone wants an easy way to make all sorts of different ice creams, fast, delicious, and easy to make. I tested the following models. Some performed way better than expected and one performed not as well and was very disappointing. Here are the results of my (not so scientific testing). I’ll post in reverse order. The review of the Briobite Soft Serve Ice Cream Maker will be added shortly.
The Dash MyPint Ice Cream Maker
The Pros:
- The Dash MyPint Ice Cream Maker is small and compact. The base won’t take up a lot of space in your freezer or stored in a cabinet.
- The price is mid point in comparison to others. You can find them for as low as $14.99 on sites like Ebay without shipping.
- After freezing the consistency of the ice cream was good.
The Cons:
- There is no window on the machine to check on the progress of the ice cream. All the others being reviewed have one. In order to check the status you have to keep stopping the machine and opening it. Wasn’t a fan.
- There’s no slot or chute for add-ins while the machine is going.
- After a considerable time (longer than 30 minutes) the ice cream was not solid and was very very soft. I ended up putting it back in my storage container (with the add ins) and putting it in the freezer to finish solidifying. The final result was good but in comparison to the others, it wasn’t as perfect.
For all these reasons the Dash MyPint Ice Cream maker got third place.

Well.. the Dash MyPint Ice Cream Maker came in third.
The Cuisinart One-Pint Wonder

The Cuisinart 1-pt Wonder Ice Cream Maker in white.
The Pros:
- The Cuisinart 1-pt Wonder is made by Cuisinart – a very reliable brand. If you have any problems with this machine you have a brand that actually has customer service. A big deal.
- You can purchase an extra bowl without buying a second machine. It’s great for when you want to make multiple batches at a time in sequence.
- It’s available everywhere so you can look for sales.
- The size of the freezing bowl is a reasonable size to store in your freezer.
- It has a pouring spout for add-ins and you can see the progress of the ice cream
- It does a good job churning the ice cream and the final consistency is very good after freezing.
- It has an outer bowl. I didn’t notice any big difference with it, but it might be to prevent any splashing outside of the ice cream maker.
- It’s pretty. Especially in red.
The Cons:
- It is larger to store than other ice cream makers in this test (but not huge).
- The price is higher than any of the other one-pint ice cream makers tested.
- It does a great job churning – the only issue is that it took longer than the first place winner.
- The final consistency (before freezing) was very good, the winner was a little better.
The Cuisinart 1-pt Wonder is a very good machine. I recommend it, and if you watch for sales you can probably get it for a better price.
So… the Cuisinart 1-pt Wonder came in second.
The Tasty Mini Ice Cream Maker
The Pros:
- The Tasty Mini Ice Cream Maker is super compact. When the base is in the freezer you only have to store the top and the plastic churning mechanism. It’s small enough that you can easily store two of them without taking up a lot of space.
- They absolutely cost less than any of the other one-pint ice cream makers – especially when you can catch a sale on woot.com or buying multiples on HSN for a comparable ice cream maker.
- While I love the Tasty Mini Ice Cream Maker and actually own several, you can find almost the exact machine in different brands. They look almost identical and the freezing bowls and mechanisms are the same. It’s part of the reason why there were only three one-pint ice cream makers tested (soon to be four). The same product under different names.
- It is absolutely the fastest churning one-pint ice cream maker tested. It can finish between 15-20 minutes, at least 10-minutes before any machine I tested. That’s significant if you have toddlers anxiously waiting for ice cream.
- The consistency of the ice cream, right after the churning is done, before freezing is outstanding, and after freezing tastes better than any store bought ice cream. It’s that good.
The Cons:
- It’s hard to resist purchasing more than one of these.
- You do have to wait around 24 hours for the base to freeze properly for the best results. It can be hard to wait.

The bottom line…
While I’m a really big fan of the Tasty Mini Cream Maker, any similar machine will most likely be equivalent. The Cuisinart is also a good choice too.
The best part, no matter which one of these you purchase… you’ll get ice cream in no time.

I add xanthan gum to the vanilla ice cream because I found that the consistency is a little more like ice milk without it. By adding the xanthan gum to the ingredients the ice cream has a creamier consistency. If you don’t have xanthan gum you can leave it out, but the consistency will be a little different.
