Every year, my awesome hometown of Chicago hosts the International Housewares Show. It’s an incredibly ginormous show and features nearly every possible item or gadget that you can imagine needing (or not needing) or wanting for your home. This year was no different. I made my way over to the show today for my first pass at some of the booths. It took me around 4 hours to go through just 3 ½ rows of the show! I love to spend time talking to each of the vendors, finding out about the cool new items that are on display. You can find Facebook Live videos I took at the show with product demonstrations on the Kosher Everyday Facebook page here.
Here are some of my favorites from Day 1 at the IHS2017.
Kitchenaid had a fabulously cool attachment for its stand mixer. It’s a tool that cuts a fruit (like an apple) or vegetable (like zucchini or sweet potato) into a wide, lasagna like strip. The possibilities are endless – tarts, vegetable or fruit lasagnas. Best of all the result is a gluten free or Kosher for Passover, healthy noodle substitution. It’s the new take on the spiralizer. Check out a live demo on the Kosher Everyday Facebook page.
Salton has a new retro line that is incredibly pretty! It includes a crock pot with auto-shift, a super retro looking toaster, refrigerator, mug holder, pots, and much more. On display was also my favorite sandwich/waffle/grill that I actually purchased after seeing it last year, as well as the sleek warming tray.
Solo One Touch Tea Cup is the perfect way to use the loose tea you buy in Machaneh Yehuda in a to-go cup. Make the tea as strong as you like, then the cup will halt the brewing process to keep the tea from over brewing and becoming bitter. Check out a live demo on the Kosher Everyday Facebook page.
My Sous Vide is an economical sous vide that attaches to your own pots. It will be available on amazon.
Swirl Art Cake Decorator is like the old twirl paint art from your childhood but for cake!
You could have your own hydroponic farm in your house for the low low price of $798. Worth it – but you still have to check the lettuce for bugs.
Nuwave makes an induction warming tray that actually has a Sabbath mode. How awesome is that?
If you really, really like dehydrating fruits, vegetables or herbs here is the product for you. The Gardenmaster Dehydrator by Nesco. You can just call it the tower of dehydration. Entertain your friends and amaze your neighbors.
Want to make your own almond or cashew nut butter or milk? Nutramilk developed and patented a revolutionary new machine that makes a high quality, nutritious fresh version of the products that you normally purchase in your local grocery store. Its. Just. Better. Check out a live demo on the Kosher Everyday Facebook page.
Nutrimill Grain Mills are exactly what you need to grind your own wheat or other grains. It’s perfect for the GFE – you can grind your own rice, oat, lentil, or bean flour to substitute for the glutenous varieties. Fresher, more nutritious, and are definitely more economical than the store version. Check out a live demo on the Kosher Everyday Facebook page.
If there are any specific products you’re interested in seeing let me know and I’ll try to check them out.
Stay tuned for more International Housewares Show updates in the days to come. Also, watch for more live Housewares Show product videos on the Kosher Everyday Facebook page.
