Description

Asian Green Beans with Green Garlic are made with fresh, seasonal green beans and #summertime #greengarlic chives. They are packed with flavor are amazing hot or cold.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 pounds fresh green beans, trimmed and blanched
  • 1 tablespoon toasted sesame oil
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon chopped fresh greed garlic
  • 2 tablespoons toasted sesame seeds

Instructions

Heat the toasted sesame oil in a large wok.  Add the soy sauce, then the green beans and garlic chives.  Toss to coat.

Remove the green beans from the heat and toss in the toasted sesame seeds.

You can serve this immediately or store in an airtight container in the refrigerator.  These are delicious hot or cold.

Notes

You can add toasted sliced almonds to this dish as well, or substitute them for the toasted sesame seeds.

I use LaChoy brand soy sauce because it’s flavorful and gluten free.

Make sure to use toasted sesame oil.  The toasted variety packs a huge flavor punch and you only need to use a small amount to get big benefits.

If you don’t have garlic chives, you can use one fresh garlic clove.  Sauté it in the toasted sesame oil before adding the rest of the ingredients.

If you don’t have garlic chives and can’t eat fresh garlic, you can add one tablespoon of garlic oil to the recipe.  Do not adjust the amount of toasted sesame oil.
